Deputy Head Porter Marks appeared very briefly on the last day of the hearings held by the Tribunal of Enquiry into the events of 7th May (p. 343 of transcripts), so as to clarify the time of arrival of a police car that had been seen on the University squares in the valley below Wivenhoe House, on the afternoon of Dr Inch’s lecture to the student Chemical Society
