Third-year sociologist Christine Barnes’ statement for the Tribunal of Enquiry into the events of 7th May and the disruption of Dr Inch’s lecture to the student Chemical Society; while rarely in the front line of the demonstration, Barnes does claim to have helped to hold back one of the more zealous members of the Chemistry Department, who was trying to clear a path for the police to get to the visiting lecturer to escort him form Wivenhoe House
